A cue auction will be held the first or second week of August on a full spliced cue with one shaft. Cue Auctions page does not yet have the photos.

This is the polish I use on my cues. On the butt, the shafts and on my linen wraps. If your linen wrap is not super smooth, then do not put polish on it. You will make a big mess.

You are at the web site of "QP Custom Cues". Every cue is American-made. No foreigner cue makers or foreign inlay men work in my shop. I personally do every inlay, wrap, ferrule, joint, the whole cue. Nothing is farmed out to any cue maker anywhere. Once the wood enters my shop it does not leave until a friend mails it out for me.

I am not associated with any other cue-maker or cue manufacturer. The cues are 100% made by me.

I choose my woods carefully, trying to buy the best figured and best wood. I do not try to save money by buying seconds. The newer woods (Such as highly figured maples, ebony, etc.) I buy are then dried properly and aged for at least four years before the first cut is made on them. I have highly figured curly and birdseye maple in my shop right now that have been hanging up without a single cut for more than 8 years.

The great percent of my woods are rare and came from old houses. The woods have been aged for decades, but I still re-dry them.

Some keep one room climate controlled and store their woods there, but then work on the woods in a shop that is not climate controlled. I pay a huge electrical bill because my whole shop is climate controlled.

I did not build many cues in 2007 due to scrimshawing so much on ordered custom cues.

I do not attempt to sell my cues to Pro players nor market them to Pro players. I want someone who has money and really appreciates a good cue. I have many fine customers who own more than one QP, some want a second and third cue from me. I like for my cues to go to people who really appreciate a well-made cue, something they worked hard for to purchase. I do not pay Pro players to shoot with my cues. I understand they want to make money by endorsements. I feel for any cuemaker to pay a Pro to use his cue is, in essence, asking the Pro to use a cue he might not necessarily really want id he were not paid. What would the Pro use if no one paid him any money? This is the question to find out the truth.

Efren had known of my cues because he first visited me in late 2000 or January 2001. The world's other cuemakers found out in March of 2002 and a few in The Philippines knew in 2001.

Efren Reyes was both the "8-ball" world champion and the "one pocket" world champion when in April of 2005 he asked me again to build him a cue. The first time he asked was, I think, in January of 2001.

You will not see many Pros using my cues because I am NOT going to pay them. If they want a cue from me then they must pay me. :-)

Largest ivory tusks ever discovered

I am seriously considering using the highest grade of wooly mammoth and mastodon ivory in my cues. This old ivory is legal to put into cues and ship across international borders. Besides being legal world-wide it is thousands of years old and from extinct animals that were elephant-like, but larger than elephants. Be nicer to have something so old in your hands.

The elephant ivory I do use is legal, but I will not break laws by shipping you a cue across an international border.

I strive to make the best hitting cue that my talents will allow. I strive for perfection with every cue I build. I am an eccentric and a perfectionist that is never able to get everything as perfect as I want to, but I sure get very close.

I personally shoot good enough (Extreme shots by me) to know how my cues hit. And they all have a soft hit, very superior with lots of spin. I do not use certain plastics that give more spin. That kind of spin, usually found on cheap, but pretty third-world country one-week cues (and strangely the Predator shafts), cannot be controlled well. I put all of my cues together just like I did for the cue I made for Efren Reyes. I do not take short-cuts even with my "Plain Jane" cues.

If you want a cue with a hard hit or firm hit or crisp hit, then I can give you that hit also. Some of you men may learn one day that a soft hit gives more feed-back to the holding hand, allowing you to feel more of what is happening when the tip touches the cue ball. You also get more spin this way because you can feel the limits, or lack thereof, being reached.

If you want the same super cue hit (with lots of extra spin) that Efren Reyes likes then you must get in line. Once you are in line you will not be bumped out of line for anyone, but you are not in line until you have paid your deposit.

As of April 25, 2008 the waiting list for many of my hand-made custom cues is about eleven months (depending on the woods you want, maybe . . . maybe, I said, . . . just 6 months if you are lucky enough to catch me when I am close to finishing a cue I am making on the side.) I am just like other cuemakers. I want to make cues that I want to make, not just cues for orders. Occasionally you might get a cue from me in only two months if you catch me when one of these is about finished.

I advocate that each cue should fit each player's height, shoulder width, and arm reach, i.e., cues to fit the person. Common sense dictates the cue should fit the player, just like golf clubs are made longer for taller players. Smart, huh?

The buyers of a QP Cue are usually men who are in their forties and fifties and are making a very comfortable living. They sacrificed the things that youth want in-order-to get those things when they really could afford them, i.e., years down the road. They had more sense than most of the youth of their time. They usually have a business mind and are attracted to my cues because they also are perfectionists and want to order something that is as humanly perfect as I can make it.

In-other-words this world has many people who are willing to pay more for a cue that I strive to put heart into as I strive for perfection. These men and women are willing to pay much more for a cue that has been sweated over at least 3 times longer than normal. Hand-made cars take longer to make and are definitely better all the way around. It's the same for cues or anything else a true perfectionist works on.

Many of my customers have their own tables, drive a very nice car (One drives a Ferrari Masaratti), nice homes are paid for and they want the best hitting cue their money can buy. The monied-men who buy my cues naturally want the best hitting and longest lasting cue their money can buy. I am a perfectionist. I sweat over every cue, my blood is in and on many of them, and they have what is desired most of all, i.e., a great solid hit with lots of spin.

In 2006 I built only 20 cues. I could have built 50 to 100 cues, but my perfectionist attitude will not allow that. I work, on average, 14 to 16 hours per day, 6 days a week! Cue making is full-time for me. Most of the work I do cannot be seen. This work is mostly on the inside of the cue and that is why my cues are know for their special hit.

If you want an ivory-type cue and want it moved across any country's border, then you must fly to my shop and get the cue. It is illegal to even move legal ivory across international borders . . . which I unknowingly did before. After researching for a customer who thought ivory could not be legally moved across borders, I discovered anyone doing this can be criminally prosecuted! It is plainly illegal!

There are sometimes a few exceptions allowed with ivory harvested due to overpopulation, but these exceptions, up to now, have never included pool cues with ivory inlays.

I buy my woods by paying for all the woods in old houses that are to be torn down. I do not support illegal loggers whom cause the deaths of thousands yearly in the third-world countries like The Philippines.

United States customs officials in Federal Wildlife offices took a cue, refusing to give it up for 2 months, and only then when I sent them a piece of ivorine with grain pattern of 3 kinds of ivory side-by-side on ivorine! Then they released the cue. I was told that this is only the third cue they had ever released after confiscating!

When that does not work they have been known to threaten your life online, or at least they did to me, and they have done so in private e-mails to other American cuemakers!

I reject offers every week from people wanting cues from me. I do not have the time to make cues for everyone that wants a QP Cue. I am not going to hire someone who does not have the same work ethic and perfectionist attitude that I have to increase production thereby making an inferior cue. I care about my name, my cues, and want customers to be happy. I do not have men making my cues. I build everyone. I am not going to place myself under the pressure of having a two year or even 7 year waiting list. That's just not me. If others have 7 year lists then that is fine, not knocking them, but not fine for me. If I had not rejected orders up to now then I am sure I would have at least a three to four year list.

Once you and I can come to an agreement on your first cue then you are "in". You will always thereafter be able to get any of my products.

Taking all of this into account then the surest way for a QP owner to NEVER be able to buy another cue from me is for the owner of a QP Cue to place his or her cue that I made on an ebay auction.

Some of you good people might accidentally get blocked by mistake. If you feel you are wrongly blocked then just sent me an e-mail and I will ask him to unblock you.

Please excuse any inadvertent inconvenience this may cause you. Some of the less gossip-oriented forums do the same thing i.e., block some pages from view. Some block trouble-makers from their forums altogether.
